A tornado's are usually the extreme result of a very large thunderstorm called a supercell. During the storm cold air and warm air combine. The cold air goes drops as the warm air rises. The warm air eventually twists into a spiral and forms a funnel cloud. The sky turns a very dark green color and the tornado begins its destruction. Tornado's wind speed can speed up to 300 miles per hour. A tornado can destroy an house in 2 seconds.
Preperation
Look for the following danger signs:
- Dark, often greenish sky
- Large hail
- A large, dark, low-lying cloud (particularly if rotating)
- Loud roar, similar to a freight train.
- If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.
If a a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. Take shelter immediately.
